My wife Erin and I made a somewhat last minute trip up to DC on March 15, 2024 and had such amazing time in our nation's capitol. We stayed at the historic Hamilton Hotel in the heart of downtown which allowed us to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
Our original plan for visiting DC was to see two of our favorite global DJ's that were playing at Club Soundcheck, who rarely visit the USA, but were in the states for the upcoming Ultra Music Festival later this month in Miami, FL.
While driving up there we quickly remembered that the men's ACC basketball tournament was taking place at The Capital One Arena so we pulled up Vivid Tickets on my phone and picked up two club level seats for the 7pm game. UNC and Pittsburg were playing and UNC took the win!
After the game we walked back to our hotel which was only .7 miles away and got ready for part two of our crazy evening. Club Soundcheck was literally across the street from the hotel and we got in line for the show just past 10:30pm.
We had the opportunity to see two of our favorite DJ acts, Aly & Fila and Kyau & Albert. These guys are some of the biggest names in the genre of trance music. This show was special because they normally play massive venues and festivals all over the world but this club was an intimate setting with only a couple hundred people which allowed us to be only 10 feet from the DJ booth! We even had the chance to grab a quick photo with Fadi before he left the club that night.

This is a merged video clip of a few tracks I recorded through the night of both DJ's. Be sure to the click the settings gear on the clip and choose HD video quality.
We got a great night sleep and woke up to a crisp beautiful morning and made a point to walk down to the Tidal Basin and Washington Monument area to see the cherry blossoms in bloom. We were there about a week before peak season, but still got some great photos.
The hotel concierge highly recommend having brunch at the historic Old Ebbitt Grill which opened their doors in 1858 and was only a few blocks away from all the sites we wanted to see.
I always love to travel and having the ability to do so is one of life's greatest experiences.
