I had the opportunity last week to visit my best friend of almost 30 years out in Las Vegas where we has lived for many years now. We had a blast and wanted to share some highlights with you this month.
The phrase, "you can count your best friends on one hand" is true and glad I can call Colin my best friend.
We try to catch up every few years out West and here in NC, but I had not been back out to Vegas in almost 9 years. This quick trip was great and we enjoyed some amazing meals, played great golf courses and played a few spins of roulette at The Bellagio.
I flew from RDU Airport and arrived early afternoon. He and his wife have lived there for a long time and now have a home in the beautiful part of town called Summerlin which is about 20 minutes from the strip. We visited Red Rocks Casino that evening after an amazing Italian meal.
I woke up the next morning just before sunrise to take advantage on an awesome running trail out his backyard which took me about 30 minutes to reach the top and captured some amazing views with my phone. It was only 6am and already 90 degrees. Vegas in the summer is no joke and reached 113 degrees each afternoon. I probably drank at least a gallon of water everyday.
That afternoon we played Bear's Best Golf Club which is a Jack Nicklaus design where he features his favorite 18 holes he has ever built over his massive career. The layout was very cool and the back nine overlooked the Vegas strip.
That evening we went out on the town and went to the legendary Mayfair Supper Club that overlooks The Bellagio fountain display. If you ever make it out there, be sure to get a reservation. The meal and entertainment was great.
The last day we played Red Rocks Country Club which is a 36 hole facility and the layout and course condition were perfect. I had a decent game that day and did not lose too many golf balls and also won by a few strokes :)
Colin dropped me off at the airport really early the next morning to get back home to NC and was greeted with a beautiful sunset while driving back to Greensboro on I-40. I always love to travel for work and play and love sharing my travels with you.
Have a great day!
