I had the pleasure of driving up to Crozet, VA in early May to capture the beautiful, intimate wedding of Michelle and Jeff. They invited their close family and friends to this event and it was a special day indeed.
I have documented weddings for 20 years now and one of my favorite parts of the job is to travel to new venues and see new beautiful places. It allows me to get the creative juices flowing and working with new surroundings.
We began the preparation photos at a hillside estate only a few minutes away from Downtown Crozet. I began with the groom and his buddies and then checked in on the bride and her girls to capture the important details and them all getting ready. I then set up and staged their first look in the pristine English garden just outside the manor.
Once Michelle and Jeff had the opportunity to see each other for the first time on their wedding day, we then took care of all the family photos before the ceremony. I love when my clients decide to do it this way at it makes the day much smoother in my opinion. Taking care of most or all the family formal shots allows us to chill after the ceremony and also take part in cocktail hour.
The ceremony, reception and dinner were held at Bar Botanical which is located in the cozy downtown of Crozet, VA. The upstairs level and outdoor patio was reserved and the catering crew/kitchen crew put together an amazing spread of food along with a mint julip as the signature cocktail. It was only fitting to have that as the signature drink because the Kentucky Derby was on that evening during the reception!
The second half of the evening included the watch party for the Derby, enjoyed a wonderful meal and concluded with the cake cutting. The family continued to party down and dance the night away.
I look forward to seeing Michelle and Jeff again in August as they are throwing a big reception at The Greensboro Country Club with a roaring 20's theme for many other friends and family. I'm already searching for my 20's theme photographer outfit :)
