Micciche Photography captured the wedding of Lena and Ivan Flores a few weeks back. This union took place in Winston-Salem at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation and the reception in Greensboro at the Meridian Convention and Event Center.
This diverse couple hails from unique parts of the world and Micciche Photography loves working with all cultures and religions as it makes every event interesting to document. Lena is of Palestinian/Jordanian decent and Ivan is of Mexican decent.
The reception began with a middle eastern tradition called a Zaffa. A professional belly dancer began the processional with the newly weds to their head table where we all enjoyed a delicious meal and then some dancing and celebration took place.
"In Egyptian culture, the zaffa (Egyptian Arabic: زفـّـة / ALA-LC: zaffah), or wedding march, is a musical procession of bendir drums, bagpipes, horns, belly dancers and men carrying flaming swords. This is an ancient Egyptian tradition that predates Islam. When the procession reaches its destination, there is usually a party, more loud noises, and then dinner." - Wikipedia
After dinner the hired dancer provided a multi song performance for the bride and groom and their guests. It was cool to photograph this portion of the evening and got a lot of great movements and angles. Check out some of my favorites below and look forward to have the newly weds visit the studio in a few short weeks for their full wedding preview on the big screen.
