My best friend of twenty-six years and I took an amazing golf trip last week to Pebble Beach located in Monterey, CA. We had been planning the trip for a year and a half and can now check it off our bucket list.
The image above is the iconic number 7 hole at Pebble Beach. This golf club was founded in 1919 and has been one of the most prestigious golf courses in the world ever since and the PGA tour has called it home for many years as well. Colin and I flew into San Francisco and did a few hours of touring at Fisherman's Wharf and then drove up North to Monterey. The attention to detail and service at the resort was very impressive and we were hooked up with an ocean view room upgrade, which overlooked the first hole at Spanish Bay Golf Club.
The first night concluded with a bag piper that plays and walks down the first fairway as a tradition and nod to the Scottish golf heritage. It was a very special moment. We then had the next day set aside to practice and prepare for our golf round at Pebble Beach as well as visit Carmel-By-The-Sea, 17 Mile Drive and The Pacific Coast Highway.
We teed it up Thursday morning at 11:30am and was truly amazed by the views and the difficulty of the golf course. I have played most of my life and these were the smallest greens I've seen. We splurged for a caddy for the group which was great for reading greens and local course knowledge and fired a 88! The weather was perfect that day with blue skies and 65 degrees. We had a few more hours of day light so we wasted no time and drove up to Big Sur which was about 45 minutes away from the resort. The breathtaking views continued and drove through the beautiful countryside til dark and captured some great fine art landscapes.
Thanks for checking out my pictures for this once in a lifetime trip. If you are a golf nut like me, you must visit this epic location! Have a great week.
